On July 22, a press conference was held at the press hall of the Armenpress News Agency, where the Universal Health Insurance Fund presented the results of its activities for the first half of 2026.
The speakers at the press conference were Samvel Kharazyan, Performing the Duties of the Acting Director General of the Universal Health Insurance Fund, Hayk Babayan, Director for Financial and Insurance Reimbursements, and Izabel Abgaryan, Director for Legal Affairs.
Mr. Kharazyan presented an overview of the Fund's performance during the first six months of 2026, highlighting key performance indicators, major activities carried out, and the system's principal achievements. In particular, he presented statistics on medical services provided to insured persons, pharmaceutical coverage, reimbursement volumes, and other indicators reflecting the effectiveness of the universal health insurance system.
According to the presented data, approximately 1.8 million beneficiaries were covered by the universal health insurance system during the first half of 2026. More than 7.8 million insurance cases were recorded, while 762,404 beneficiaries received reimbursements. As of June, the total amount reimbursed had reached AMD 102.4 billion, with the average reimbursement per beneficiary amounting to AMD 56,941. Mr. Kharazyan noted that tens of thousands of people who had previously not used any publicly funded healthcare services are now seeking the medical care they need through the universal health insurance system, reflecting improved access to healthcare services and greater public engagement with the system.
Following the presentation, the Fund's representatives answered questions from journalists as well as from users on social media.
The press conference concluded with a discussion of the ongoing initiatives and future plans aimed at the continuous improvement and further development of the universal health insurance system.
