In May 2026, a delegation of around 12 participants from the Netherlands visited Armenia for a seven-day study tour. The delegation included professionals from the fields of healthcare, health financing, public policy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and social development.
The purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of Armenia’s social, political, and economic developments, with particular attention to the ongoing healthcare reforms and the implementation of the Universal Health Insurance system.
As part of the program, the delegation visited the Universal Health Insurance Fund. During the meeting, discussions focused on the progress of healthcare reforms, the implementation process of Universal Health Insurance, the institutional design and governance mechanisms of the new system, the key challenges and opportunities related to implementation, as well as approaches derived from the Dutch experience that may be relevant for Armenia.
The participants were introduced to the ways in which Armenia is building an accessible, affordable, and sustainable healthcare system for all citizens. The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience in the areas of healthcare financing, healthcare system organization, and policy development.
The parties emphasized the importance of such meetings in strengthening professional ties between Armenian and Dutch healthcare professionals.
