Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Astghik Grigoryan, Acting Director of the Universal Health Insurance Foundation, Samvel Kharazyan, and the Foundation’s leadership participated in a training course titled “Universal Health Insurance System, Quality Assurance of Medical Services, and Digital Health” held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from March 16 to 20, 2026.
The program aimed to present international experience in the field of universal health insurance, particularly the successful model of the Republic of Korea, as well as to assess its applicability in the context of healthcare reforms in Armenia.
During the lectures and discussions, participants explored a range of key topics, including mechanisms for benefit package design and service pricing in Korea, the structure of payment systems, the organization of national screening programs and digital management tools, drug pricing policies and negotiation processes, as well as digital financial monitoring and sustainability management.
The training program also included site visits to several healthcare institutions in Seoul, including the Ilsandong-gu Public Health Center and the National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) Ilsan Hospital, where participants were introduced to operational digital solutions and customer service management systems.
At the conclusion of the program, opportunities for further cooperation and prospects for continued exchange of experience were discussed.
