From May 18 to 20, a three-day training program on “Health Financing for Universal Health Coverage” was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Yerevan City Centre hotel.
Representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, and the Universal Health Insurance Foundation participated in the program to comprehensively examine and discuss health financing issues in Armenia.
The program aimed to strengthen the capacities of sector leaders and responsible professionals in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health financing policies.
During the training, participants were introduced to international best practices, recent research findings, and tools in the field of health financing that can contribute to the development of effective and sustainable health financing systems. Discussions also covered health financing, efficiency of public expenditures, strategic purchasing, primary healthcare, as well as the comprehensive health insurance reforms being implemented in Armenia.
At the end of the program, a panel discussion was held on the key challenges, achievements, and upcoming projects related to the first months of implementation of the Universal Health Insurance system. The discussion featured Samvel Kharazyan, Fabrizio Zarcone, and Siddhartha Sankar Datta.
The training was organized by the World Health Organization in cooperation with the World Bank and funded through the Korea–World Bank Partnership Facility grant program.
