On April 18, the National Gallery of Armenia hosted an event dedicated to the first 100 days of activity of the Universal Health Insurance Foundation. The event was attended by representatives of government institutions, the medical community, the financial sector, and partner organizations.
The opening remarks were delivered by Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan. In her speech, she emphasized that the introduction of the Universal Health Insurance system was a long-awaited and essential guarantee for citizens, made possible through the coordinated efforts of various stakeholders. The Minister noted that in the coming years, the priority will be to build on the established foundation to create a more stable, comprehensive, and high-quality system, positioning it as a competitive model at the international level.
The Acting Director of the Universal Health Insurance Foundation, Samvel Kharazyan, also addressed the audience. In his remarks, he highlighted the importance of public-private partnership, as well as the support and professional engagement of the medical community, which have played a key role in the successful implementation of the system.
Participants also had the opportunity to hear real stories from beneficiaries who had used the insurance package, serving as powerful evidence of the system’s effectiveness and accessibility. The key statistical indicators and results from the first 100 days were also presented. According to the data, around 1.7 million citizens are already covered by the system. The insurance package currently includes more than 2,400 services, while total reimbursements over the first three months amounted to approximately AMD 40 billion.
The event served as an important platform to bring together key stakeholders, summarize the progress achieved, and outline the next steps.
